Back to the Basics: Meet Foreman Marco
After eleven years, Marco has returned as a foreman at Van der Ende Valve Services. What does his role entail? And what motivated him to return to our workshop in Maasdijk? We can reveal this much: his decision revolves around his passion for technology.
At the age of sixteen, Marco began his technical journey at Ford, where he spent sixteen years developing his knowledge and skills. A tip from someone in his personal network brought him to Van der Ende Valve Services—and the rest is history. “I had the opportunity to go through all the departments in the workshop, starting at the beginning: disassembly. After a while, I also worked on projects outside the workshop and even offshore,” Marco shares.
The Best of Both Worlds
After a career detour in the automotive sector, Marco found his way back to Van der Ende Valve Services this summer—eleven years later. His motivation for returning? The wide-ranging technical expertise within our company. “Here, you have a machining department, but you can also weld; all aspects of engineering are covered,” says Marco. “Moreover, I have the freedom to partly work for myself and grow my own business. I work four days a week as a full-time foreman and spend one day working on cars for myself. Engineering and cars: a combination I really enjoy!” And as if that wasn’t enough, Marco is currently spending his free time renovating his new home, where he’ll soon move in with his wife and stepdaughter.
In his role as workshop foreman, Marco is responsible for ensuring the smooth execution of the overhaul process. He oversees the entire process in the workshop, inspects the valves, and ensures they meet the required standards. Marco acts as the link between the workshop and the office, contributing to seamless coordination of operations.
A Wealth of Experience
Over the years, Marco has expanded his expertise and gained valuable experience. He sees the future of control and measurement technology at Van der Ende Valve Services as an opportunity to further digitalize processes and improve customer service. “My goal is to digitize the data of control valves, safety valves, and components even further. This way, when an object arrives, both the workshop team and the preparation team can quickly determine the best approach for the overhaul.”
A World of Difference… Or Not?
While Van der Ende Valve Services has developed significantly over the past eleven years, the basics—like the workflow for a valve in the workshop—have remained unchanged. The team has grown, with many new faces creating a pleasant working environment. Marco says, “I enjoy motivating colleagues. Working together toward a shared goal results in a close-knit team dynamic.”
The entire team at Van der Ende Valve Services wishes Marco lots of success and joy in this new—but familiar—challenge!
